Minneapolis Camera Crew

Calling a camera crew in Minneapolis should not be a fishing expedition.  You need to know who you are dealing with before you come here.  If you call David and David Productions, you are getting a person with a great sense for storytelling, as well as a great camera person.

I use the best people that Minneapolis has, period.  The sound people I use are owner-operators, not some kid who I handed my mixer to that morning.  The sound people I work with are more than that---they also know my equipment inside and out, know what my camera can do, and are another set of eyes.   Whether the crew is just me and a sound person, or we add grips, gaffers, prompter people, makeup.  Each crew member is a one of a team… I look for people who are courteous, skilled, and professional.

If you’re looking for a camera crew in Minneapolis, I encourage you to look at my website.  I’ve got numerous clips that show projects I’ve worked on recently.  The camera I use primarily right now is the Panasonic SDX-900, which has a beautiful picture that emulates film.  This equipment also has a memory function, with the ability to roll off one frame at a time at prescribed intervals, resulting in amazing time lapse footage.  It also stores data while the camera is on, enabling me to capture images when I’m not even rolling!   In the unlikely event I didn’t anticipate something happening worth rolling on…I can roll the camera “after the fact” and the memory function of the camera will put those images to tape.   But the main thing about this camera is that ability to make your images look like film.  Panasonic has developed an amazing sense for this.

Many times people who find themselves searching for a crew in Minneapolis are still very happy with the classic Sony D600 Beta SP camera, so I have that camera as well.

I am a believer that if you are looking for a crew, you’re better off finding a person who edits as well as shoots.  Crew after crew that I’ve met at events tell me that all they do is work in the field…and they staying away from editing.  It’s so important that the crew shooting your video has a sense for what it will look like in the end.  You only get that by experience editing.

My experience behind the camera will make your shoot a great one, and you’ll never have to worry that the rest of the crew will be a problem, either.  Please remember that your crew doesn’t have to be a big one, either.  I am more than happy to work as a “one man band”, doing all the elements of the production myself.  I’m comfortable interviewing people while doing camera work, a skill I sharpened from years in TV news.

Coming to Minneapolis?  Give me a call or an e-mail!  I look forward to working with you.
